Are you considering installing a gas boiler in your home? Before choosing between natural draft or a condensing boiler, be aware that regulations impose very specific rules, particularly regarding smoke evacuation. Here is what you absolutely need to know.

Natural draft: beware of constraints
A natural draft boiler operates via a traditional chimney: smoke rises naturally through a vertical duct without mechanical assistance.
But since the decree of February 23, 2018, the rules have tightened:
🔎 The law requires a vertical duct of at least 10 meters in height between the boiler and the roof outlet.
❗ Why this rule?
Because without this height, natural draft is not efficient enough to correctly evacuate the smoke. This can lead to gas backflow, which is dangerous for your health.
🚫 What if I don't have 10 meters?
You will not be able to install a natural draft boiler. In that case, you will have to turn to another type of boiler... such as a condensing boiler.
